How do I join the Top 100 List?

To submit your site to the list, click on "Add Your Site" at the top of the page.

Who is allowed to submit their website to the Top 100 list?

The actual top 100 list is limited to self-representing jewelry designers. That's anyone who makes any kind of jewelry and sells it through their website, ebay store, Etsy store, etc. You *can* submit sites that sell other things, but there has to be an area for handmade jewelry, even if it is just your portfolio. I do check sites when they are submitted, and I will delete those that do not sell handmade jewelry.

I signed up, but my site is not appearing on the list.

Once you start to get votes (see below), your site will appear on the list once the list updates - once every half hour. There are 8 pages to the list - your site's appearance depends on how many votes you get.

How often does the list refresh the rankings?

The site re-ranks every half hour, incorporating any votes and any new sites, as well as any changes made by members or the list owner.

How often does the site reset the votes to 0?

The site resets everyone to 0 hits/votes once per week, giving everyone a chance to get up there in rank.

What do the "In" and "Out" numbers mean?

"In" refers to the number of times someone clicks on your voting link and enters the top list, therefore voting for your site. This is how your site is ranked on the list.
"Out" refers to how many times a visitor clicks your banner on the top list and goes to your site.
The "In" and "Out" numbers reset once per week, therefore resetting everyone's ranks until they get more votes.

What do the "Ratings" mean?

Visitors have the option to rate your website. Ratings are separate, and don't effect the rankings. People can rate your site 1-10, and make comments about it, but none of that effects what number you are in the top 100.

I tried to sign up and got a message about getting an e-mail. I have not gotten any e-mail. Did I do something wrong?

First, make sure your spam filter is not keeping the email from you, and also make sure your email address is correct when you submit. If you still are not getting your confirmation email, you can email me your info so I can look you up on the system and make sure you're there.

Is a banner ad required to join the list?

No, you don't have to have a banner - your site will appear on the list with the description you enter when you register.

How do I insert my banner onto the list?

Here's how to insert your banner ad -
Click the "Member Login" link at the top of the list page and log into your account. At the bottom, in the "banner" field, enter the URL of your banner. Don't enter anything else - just the URL - or the banner will not appear correctly. You can use sites such as addesigner.com or quickbanner.com to create a simple banner ad, if you desire.

My banner is not appearing correctly - it appears squished or an incorrect size.

For some reason, the sizing actually works better when you list the URL of your image instead of uploading it directly to the top list server. Uploading the images has been problematic off and on, so I recommend having the image hosted on a server such as your own website or Flickr. Make sure you list the banner's width and height in the appropriate fields so that it will appear correctly.

***Members need to have a basic understanding of images and uploading to have a banner on this list. I often check the list for broken banners - this is to keep the list clean and nice looking for everyone. If your banner is broken or does not appear correctly, I will remove it. Please do not email me with questions on how to get your image to appear if your question isn't answered here. It's each webmaster's responsibility to create and maintain their own banner - I don't have the time to walk each individual website owner through the procedure. How do I get votes to get my site to the top of the list?

The best way to do this is to insert your voting link code onto your website, or into emails to your customers. To do this, log into your account, and click "Get your link code" on the left side of the page. Once there, you can choose to have a banner or just a text link. Click the radio circle next to the choice you want, then click "Generate". If you're choosing a banner, for best results, right click on the banner, and choose to save the image. Upload that image to your own server. Then, copy the code generated and paste it into your web site or email. Once you have done that, make sure to change the img src="http://jewelrysrtist.gotop100.com/lists/jewelrysrtist/custombanners..." to the URL of the image on your server.

How do I submit a paid ad to the Top 100 website?

Ad spaces are sold by Project Wonderful - and can be bought by clicking on the link under the ads on the site, or going to this page.

Who is allowed to submit paid ads to the Top 100 website?

Anyone can take out a paid ad (except for mass-produced jewelry or wholesalers, so as not to take away from the integrity of the site.) The paid ads are particularly well suited to beadmakers, bead and finding suppliers and web site designers - as there are many jewelry artists that look through the listings who might need those services.

How is this top site list being promoted?

As the list owner, I am doing a number of things to promote this list to get you lots of traffic. First and foremost, I have joined a number of other top site lists - which you can vote for! At the bottom of our top site list, there are a number of small banners to other lists. Click on those to vote for our list and get us up there in rankings so more people will see the site.
I have also purchased some banner advertising via the Craft Site Medic, a service I have used for my own website with much success.
Last but not least, I have been promoting the list on some of the bead and jewelry forums I belong to. Hopefully this will bring us all more traffic. If you have suggestions about promoting the list, please feel free to email me and I will see what I can do!
